We welcome you to become a part of Crestwood’s reading mentoring team. It is a fact that a child will demonstrate improvement in one or more areas of reading when he or she is able to practice these skills one-on-one with a caring, attentive mentor. Please consider joining the reading mentor team at Crestwood. You will be working toward making a difference in a child’s academic and personal life and toward our school’s academic success as a whole.
The main objective of the Reading A-Z program at Crestwood Elementary is to practice and improve on specific reading skills appropriate to each child’s needs. Students are mentored in 30-minute sessions, up to five times per week. Under the direction of the Title I Reading Teachers, mentors work one-on-one with an assigned student. The program utilizes an individualized lesson for each student that incorporates fiction and non-fiction books, related activities, and engaging educational games.
