Students Spotlight Ceremony
Swanton, January 25, 2017: The Swanton Local School District held its ceremonial groundbreaking celebration at Park and Crestwood school locations today. Student representatives from the middle school; Isaiah Bolyard, Brady Arnold, Riley Bellner, Jack Kitzmiller, Xander Gilsdorf, and Bailey DeKoeyer handled the proverbial groundbreaking at Park, the new 5th through 8th grade Swanton Middle School location. The group then headed across the tracks where Crestwood students, Dylan Haselman, Josalyn Kahl, Morgan Nijakowski, and Drew LaPoint stood in on behalf of their peers and handled the shoveling duties. The Crestwood School will become known as the Swanton Elementary School and will house grades K-4. Others present at the event included Steve Brehmer, VP of the Board of Education, Superintendent, Jeff Schlade, Joyce Kinsman, SLSD CFO/Treasurer, School Principals Paulette Baz and Matt Smith, Glen Dominique, Director of Buildings & Grounds, several teachers and staff, as well as Brittany Ventimiglia, President of Swanton Parents’ Club, Rosanna Hoelzle, Village Administrator, and representatives from the Munger Munger & Associates Architects, Inc.
We are pleased to continue our relationship with Munger-Munger and developing new ones with Midwest Contracting, Brint Electric, Positive Trades Group, Sperling, and D R Contractors. A late-July project completion date is currently expected, but can change with weather conditions and other unforeseen issues causing delays. Look for open houses to occur in August and school to begin after Labor Day for the 2017-18 school year.
