Welcome to the Swanton Local School District! The school system has been serving the community of Swanton since 1897. Currently the district serves just over 1100 students in three buildings which are located in the heart of the community. Here in Swanton, “Our vision is to be the district of choice with an academic environment where student achievement is top priority, community involvement is vital, all individuals are valued and the school is a point of pride.”  

Because of our small size Swanton is able to provide low teacher to student ratios which allows for our staff to provide individualized attention to our students. Swanton strives to offer unique experiences to help students make the most of their time in school and to prepare for life after graduation. At Swanton Elementary our students are given a solid foundation in literacy and we have great success with the third grade reading guarantee. At Swanton middle and high school we provide our students with career exploration, soft skills training, internship opportunities, the ability to earn workplace certifications, an adulthood day experience for seniors, and an all new life skills class all in an effort to prepare them for the future. 

Swanton is also taking an active role to promote positive mental health in our students by providing regular mental health screening for students in grades 7-12 along with access to mental health professionals. The district has also made it a priority to train our staff to identify students who may be struggling with mental health issues and need assistance. Our ultimate goal is to see our students happy and healthy everyday they are with us. 

As a district we take great pride in the work that we do for our students. All of our staff members are properly certified in their chosen field of study and highly qualified to educate our students.  As the proud father of two Swanton graduates I can unequivocally say that a Swanton education will take you anywhere that you want to go in life. As a small school district Swanton is able to provide students with the time and attention they need to achieve success. The 2023-24 school year is shaping up to be one of the best yet.
